In download.com AVG Version 7.1.394 shows as Date added on June 01 /06 whereas Version 7.1.407 as released on 10/04/06.
I am running 7.1,407 which i download from download.com few days back if we look at the dates then 7.1.394 looks to be the latest. But if we look at the version number then the other looks to be the latest.. Any Computer / antivirus Guru here Pl.to help and remove this confusion??? thanks

whatever version you have doesnt matter at all unless they have its a major release which means if they have released a version 8 then you shuld get it provided they have done some enhancements in it. If its version 7.2 then its a minor version where they bascially just put few minior enhancements and some bug fixes . So in this case its just the BUILD . Both are same versions but of different build which really doesnt matter. You will still get all the updates when you open up avg.
Please review the release notes for the version and if you think there is some critical bug fix then just download it and install it. You wont need to uninstall the existing version.
If you think there are no critical fixes in the new version then just leave it alone. Everything is fine.
