1021MB ram

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT(updated this one already..)

232GB with a 118GB free space

VISTA ultimate

antivirus:Norton360(maybe theres things in here that might have prevented my PC from going any faster)

i have disabled some unnecessary start-up programs already..

i no this aint the best set-up buts its all i have..

Do file cleanup, defrag, cancel system restore, reboot, put system restore back on (this gets rid of all the restore history), delete unnecessary files, run antivirus program, reboot, see how it runs.

best thing you could do with out overclocking your machine: uninstall norton and install some freeware antivirus like AVG, clamwin or antivir. Norton is a resource hog.

other options:

Try to use some other operating system.

Make sure you have plenty of free space on the hard drive.

Test your ram with mem86

Defrag your hard drive.

Make your PC is properly cooled. There are usually utilities that come with the computer or motherboard that allow you to check the temperature.
